2015: And the Winner Is…

FLOS is committed to working with the best creative minds in the industry to test the boundaries of lighting design. This dedication to excellence often attracts the attention of publications and organizations that seek to honor the most innovative and exciting products each year. In 2015, FLOS was honored to receive recognition from some of the best-known and highly regarded panels of judges. Get to know the designs that were winners in 2015.

Award Winners

1. Ipnos by Nicoletta Rossi & Guido Bianchi

The delicately architectural Ipnos outdoor light took home a Good Design award in recognition of its originality and visionary concept. The Good Design awards are among the most prestigious international prizes, having been founded in 1950 by Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Edgar Kaufmann, Jr.

2. Shade by Paul Cocksedge

Cocksedge freed the traditional lampshade from everyday expectations, earning FLOS a second Good Design award in the process. Effortless, romantic, and slightly surreal, the design appeals to our competing needs for recognition and surprise.

3. String Lights by Michael Anastassiades

Anastassiades wins again with the minimalist yet evocative String Lights - this time as the Popular Choice winner in Architizer's A+ awards. Inspired by power lines, the pendant lighting system creates a beautiful and unique linear installation in its environment.

4. Running Magnet by FLOS Architectural

The winningest FLOS design of 2015, Running Magnet first debuted at Euroluce. Excitement stayed strong all year, and the architectural lighting design took home FLOS's 3rd Good Design Award, Best of Product: Lighting & Electrical in the Architects Newspaper awards, and was honored as a finalist in Interior Design's Best of Year awards. The versatile system created limitless possibilities for installation, and was designed for use in retail spaces where frequent changes are typical and absolute performance is required. The variety of light elements achieve flexible yet precise illumination with artistic results.

1. IC Lights by Michael Anastassiades

The balance and poetry typical of Anastassiades found a playful expression in the celebrated IC Lights family, recognized as a finalist in the Architizer A+ Awards.

2. Moonline by FLOS Architectural

Hospitality Design honored Moonline as a finalist in their annual awards, recognizing the subtle magic of the ingenious installation.

3. OK Lamp by Konstantin Grcic

OK_ph. Zoe Ghertner 1_small

Adjustable to a full 360 degrees, the OK Lamp received nods in both the Architizer A+ awards and Azure's AZ awards for excellence in lighting design.
